Poetry Lunch S5E3

Reading “Warning” by Jenny Joseph from Staying Alive: Real Poems for Unreal Times, edited by Neil Astley and published by Blood Axe Books.

A poem about cutting loose and letting go, about not caring what others think, about living with abandon and questioning when that’s possible. At what age allowable. I love how this poem admits and allows for desires that feel “bad” and so fully imagines how full one can be in old age — whatever old means — but that getting older can be a freeing thing as opposed to a limiting thing. I like that idea a lot and am really loving all the purple in my life of late.
